Tearable Elastic Adhesive Bandage (often called light EAB or tear light tape) is a lightweight, stretchable sports tape that can be torn easily by hand. It is used to support joints and compress soft tissues without preventing natural movement, making it a practical option for both injury management and general sports taping.

Compared to traditional elastic adhesive bandage, tearable EAB is softer, stretchier, more flexible and easier to handle. It is widely used in sport, particularly in rugby for lifting straps and ear taping, as well as for quick tape jobs during matches and training sessions.

Choosing the Right Width of Tearable EAB

SIZETYPICAL USE
2.5cm Best for smaller areas such as fingers, thumbs, and hands where more control is needed.
5cm The most widely used, all-round size. Suitable for ankles, knees, wrists and general sports taping. A reliable starting point for most users.
7.5cm Provides greater coverage for larger areas such as thighs, calves and upper arms. Often used for rugby lifting straps.
Helpful tip: If you need firmer support or more restriction of movement, a traditional elastic adhesive bandage or a rigid tape such as zinc oxide tape is usually the better choice. Tearable EAB is typically used where you want support with maximum flexibility, or where speed and ease of application are important.

If you’re unsure where to start, our own-brand Light EAB comes in a full 6.8m stretched length, offering you more usable tape on the roll than many shorter rolls on the market (which are typically around 4.5m).
