Elastic adhesive bandage (EAB) is a stretchable sports tape used to support joints while still allowing controlled movement. It is typically applied around joints such as the ankles, knees or wrists to compress and support the soft tissues in cases of sprains or strains.

Because it stretches, EAB allows the joint to move more naturally than rigid tape, while still providing support and stability. It is widely used across sport, especially in rugby for lifting straps and ear taping, as well as for general preventative strapping.

Choosing the Right Width of Elastic Adhesive Bandage

SIZETYPICAL USE
2.5cm Strapping of fingers, thumbs, hands and wrists. Also useful for general fixation and retention of dressings, appliances and bandages.
5cm An excellent all-round size for general sports taping. Suitable for strapping feet, ankles, knees, wrists and shoulders. Also commonly used for flexible wrist guards and rugby ear taping.
7.5cm Used similarly to 5cm tape, but gives more coverage. Useful for larger areas such as thighs, calves and upper arms, and routinely used to form lifting straps in rugby.
Helpful tip: If your goal is to significantly restrict movement, a rigid tape such as zinc oxide tape is usually the better choice. Elastic adhesive bandage is typically used where you still want the joint to move, but with added support and compression.

If you need something quicker and easier to apply, particularly for self-use, a lighter tearable tape may be a more practical option. You can view our tearable EAB range here.
