Elastic adhesive bandage (EAB) is a stretchy and flexible adhesive tape intended for strapping around soft tissues and joints. For best stick, ensure your skin is clean, dry and free from sweat, oils, dirt, lotions etc before applying this tape. Shaving or trimming body hair on the area can also improve adhesion. EAB must be cut with scissors; it cannot be torn by hand.
When applied with some stretch, EAB will provide quite firm compression to the area. However, when wrapping all the way around a limb, avoid applying it too tightly as this can cause constriction and affect circulation. If you notice any swelling or discolouration has developed in the area around the strapping tape, remove it immediately. Since Physical Elastic Adhesive Bandage is a latex-free tape, skin irritation is uncommon. But if you have sensitive skin or need to apply the tape to an area of damaged skin, use foam underwrap first to provide protection from the adhesive.
Because EAB stretches and flexes it will move with your body. This property makes it great for functional sports taping. However, if you are looking for a strapping tape that provides rigid support, consider zinc oxide tape instead. For specific sports taping techniques, please refer to our blog.
